Opening for a full-time Judicial Assistant.

Nebraska Workers' Compensation Court in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska is seeking a Judicial Assistant.

Responsibilities include:
-Transcribe and/or draft decisions, orders, correspondence, and other legal materials
-Proofread, edit, and cite check documents for accuracy
-Verify and organize exhibits from hearings or trial, including scanning exhibits into the court's computerized information systems when necessary
-Assemble materials to create new docket folders for motions
-Distribute appropriate documents to the parties involved

-Completion of legal/paralegal course work, or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to enable the individual to perform the duties of the position and meet the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
-Experience court or legal assistant experience helpful
-Transcription experience helpful
-Ability to type accurately, minimum 65 words per minute. Typing test required prior to interview.

Salary $3,286 per month; the position is non-exempt for overtime purposes and will require an original six month probationary period.

with at least two (2) years of current litigation experience.  

This position is responsible for providing paralegal support to attorneys in the conduct of complex litigation case file management, including:
-Independent performance of routine legal research;
-Maintaining case files;
-Preparing legal documents for filing deadlines;
-Preparing and serving subpoenas and discovery responses including but not limited to medical records employment records, social media and personal history;
-Summarizing depositions of plaintiffs, defendants, expert witnesses and witnesses;
-Maintaining meticulous time keeping records following the latest rules and guidelines;
-Communicating with clients, experts and witnesses in a professional and courteous manner.
